USMS Event Sanctions Update - September 23, 2020

The USMS Board of Directors has extended its recommendation to not sanction in-person pool and open water events through Oct. 31 and to begin a phased return to competition on Nov. 1.

In the coming weeks, the board will release recommendations for sanctioned events, including event size, travel, and safety considerations. Local, state, and federal guidelines and orders, as well as facility requirements, will take precedence if they are more restrictive than USMS's recommendations. Updated USMS guidelines will be published and the COVID-19 Event Resources page will be updated with information as available.

Virtual events that can be completed in a pool or open water workout setting continue to be offered. National virtual events include:

2020 USMS 5K/10K ePostal National Championships  (June 1–Sept. 30)
2020 USMS 3000/6000-Yard ePostal National Championship (Sept. 15–Nov. 15)
2020 SmartyPants Vitamins USMS Fall Fitness Challenge (Nov. 15–30)
