On Saturday, March 15th, the SwimRI team had a strong showing in the distance events and edged out Cambridge Masters for an early lead in the overall team points competition following Day One of the New England LMSC Short Course Yards Championships at Harvard University. With 53 more events next weekend, March 21st-23rd, the team points title could very well come down to Sunday relays!
Roger Williams University is adding Tuesday evening and some Saturday morning workouts to its spring Masters schedule, and Naval Station Newport has added a Thursday morning workout. Click here for Masters practice locations and schedules.
The 17th South County YMCA Adult & Masters Swim Meet. Sunday, March 9th, noon to 5:30pm, Peace Dale, RI. Informal, unsanctioned mini meet open to all adult swimmers (USMS membership not required) and prep meet for the New England LMSC SCY Championships at Harvard. 70 swimmer cap. SwimRI is helping New England Masters Swim Club defend its title in this national, month-long event by running organized heats for current USMS-NEM members:
Warm-up starts at 8am. Heats start at 9:00, 10:20 & 11:40am. Cost is ~$15 per swimmer. RWU college swimmers will count/time. RSVP to douglas.sayles@swimri.org with your prioritized heat preferences. Post-swim social gathering at Aidan's Irish Pub in Bristol.
