Sunday, January 19th, 2014:
Sunday, December 22nd @ East Providence Boys & Girls Club. Coach Trent will incorporate these events into SwimRI-Triton Swimming's Sunday 7:30am workout. The postal event is simple: kick 400 yards as fast as you can, then enter your time (if you want) via the event website. For those of you who have never attended a Triton workout, the drop-in fee is $5 and the Sunday theme practices are usually well-attended, spirited and a highlight of everyone's week.
Friday-Sunday, December 13th-15th @ Boston University and Saturday team dinner at Boston Beer Works (61 Brookline Avenue, opposite Fenway Park). SwimRI is the defending medium-size team champion. We focus on getting as many SwimRI swimmers as possible involved in relays and into the National Top 10 relay rankings -- relay team age classifications at meters meets are determined by the sum of the ages, not the youngest swimmer's age. All relays are submitted as deck entries at the meet. Unless you inform Frank otherwise at firstname.lastname@example.org, we will assume that everyone entered in the meet is available for relays on the day(s) you have entered individual events and that anyone swimming on Saturday is also attending the team dinner.
Saturday, November 23, 2013 @ Providence College's Taylor Natatorium. Co-ed meet in 6-lane, 25-meter pool. High-school event order + other relays. Warm up: 3:00pm. Meet: 3:30 to ~6:00pm.
36 swimmer cap! RSVP to email@example.com. RSVP period closes November 18th @ 11:59pm. Captains Trent & Doug will determine team lineups. $20 per swimmer. USMS-NEM-SWMR membership required.
Post-meet social gathering at Ladder 133 Bar & Grill (same place as last year). We assume all meet participants will attend the party. Email firstname.lastname@example.org if you're not attending the party or are bringing guests.
Inaugural HAWKtoberfest Adult Swim Meet, Roger Williams University, Bristol, RI. USMS-recognized mini meet open to any adult swimmer age 18 or older (USMS membership not required). Nice 8-lane, 25-yard pool with electronic touch-pad timing system. Meet Director: Matt Emmert, email@example.com, (401) 254-3421. There will be on-site registration on October 6th.
During 2013, RWU Coach Matt Emmert has actively supported masters swimming by hosting coached masters practices and events at RWU's beautiful (and previously unaccessible) 8-lane pool. Help us return the favor by attending the meet, the proceeds of which will help support the RWU college team's winter training trip.
Congrats to the SwimRI Selachii team of Donna Neuendorf, Sara DiNardo, Kaan Duru, Ryan Shipley and first-place finisher Trent Theroux on winning the inaugural Newport Sharkfest Rochambeau Cup team competition in convincing fashion. Kudos to the strong showing by SwimRI's Matthew Jaroszewicz, Lori Pugh, Sandy Croft, Katrina Molenda and Mark Morin. Thank you to SwimRI's Laura Schmitt for recruiting volunteers and arranging free food & beer at The Landing Restaurant & Bar. An all-around fun day in beautiful downtown Newport! See event photos / results.
SWIMRI-LINCOLN @ Community College of Rhode Island (Flanagan Campus): Saturdays 8:00-10:00am starting Oct 19th. 6-lane, 25-yard pool. USMS membership not required. $5 per practice. Note: At least initially, 8:00-8:30 will be dedicated to acclimating new or non-competitive swimmers to organized training; others will be doing warm up, drills or arriving later. The first set of the main workout will start promptly at 8:30. Masters have 6 lanes until 9:30, then 5 lanes thereafter. Practice will generally end at 10:00, with some specialized training running over as space permits. Contact Frank McQuiggan at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Frank McQuiggan is gauging interest in Saturday morning practices at CCRI-Lincoln starting in mid October, $5 per practice, USMS membership not required. These are coached workouts at a nice, clear, cool, 25-yard pool, which we will only offer if enough swimmers commit. If interested, contact Frank at email@example.com and let him know how often you are likely to attend.
